Whys isnt TradeWorks written in a 32-bit or 64-bit language - one that has pull-down menus and looks like other Windows-style programs? Because theyre not as good - TradeWorks does a lot more than those other programs, and it runs a lot faster. Once your staff learns just a handful of keyboard tips, they work much faster in TradeWorks than in a pull-down-search-for-everything type of program. Weve converted from several of those other programs and they use ten times the computing power that TradeWorks uses.
When you check in to a brand new hotel in Las Vegas, or rent car from a major company or make a reservation at an airline counter, take a look at the computer screen. Theyre not using a fancy-looking, Windows-style program theyre using a mainframe program from the same language family that we use for TradeWorks.
Its true that TradeWorks is written in RPGII, which is a mainframe language thats over 25 years old. In all that time any bugs have been worked out - it is a lean, mean computing machine! The data base has such integrity, its practically bullet proof. Currently sold and supported by IBM with its AS400, it is alive and well! IBM has sold the largest base of mid-range computers in the world and programs written in RPG comprise the largest number of business applications in the world.
PC consultants have little or no experience with mainframes, and they have no vested interest in learning. Theyll frequently say dont buy it. Experienced consultants know better.
There are dozens of them. Ask if the program works. If it has lots of reports. If it stays in balance. If it can do loads and loads of things for trade exchange and contact management. If its constantly upgraded. If they can get toll-free tech support almost any time, including weekends, holidays, evenings.
So what do you get with TradeWorks? You get the power and efficiency of true, multi-user mainframe computing on your PC network! You get an integrated system that eliminates the need for separate data bases. Just enter your clients once and you can keep track of trades and cash, fax lots of things from your desk, broadcast fax, publish your directory or classifieds, or generate custom letters. Email from your desk, touch-tone authorizations, account balance information, fax-on-demand, and voice mail are included in the complete package. There are literally dozens and dozens of volume building features for you and your brokers. With just a little help from your web consultant, its easy and quick to get information onto your web site.
Dont get hoodwinked by cute graphics. What really matters is functionality. And it doesnt matter if the program is written in Access or Foxpro or RPG or Sanskrit, as long as it does what you need. If youre in the market for good trade exchange software, if youre fed up with what youre using, discover why almost dozens independent retail trade exchanges use TradeWorks.
